Nice Package... Junky Pictures

by Paul G. Atkinson 2009-02-26, 62 people found this review helpful
I bought this camera after losing my Canon SD900 while on vaction at Disney World in early December 2008. As with everything I review, I use an item for several months to truly evaluate how good it is after the "new" purchase feeling has died down and I want to evaluate performance and not emotions for my new toy.

This camera is simple to review. It is very well made. It is a good looking camera. You expect big things. But...

What you get it is horrible images. I used it all through the Christmas and New Year holidays (2008) and was disappointed in its pictures. If this is your first camera in this arena you might not be able to tell and think the images look fine, maybe even great. However, owning several high end DSLR's, and having used several "point and shoots" as quick grab backups, I can say the images aren't good. They are grainy. The colors are poor and muted in many instances. Low light pictures are terrible, bordering on horrendous. This camera is nowhere near as sharp as my Canon SD900 was and makes me even sadder I lost it. In the end, aren't the pictures what the camera is all about regardless of the nice construction? My experience was such that I returned this camera and got a new Canon SD1100 IS which performs as I expect a point and shoot to perform. Not perfect, but great images for what you are using it for.

Pros: Well built with nice construction. Decent battery life. Good looking camera.

Cons: POOR IMAGES.

Nice features, mediocre picture quality

I bought this as a gift for my wife to supplement a 4-year-old, bulky Canon A95 digital camera. First pictures looked okay but seemed to be missing some clarity. All photos were shot in Auto mode and were taken indoors. To rate the photo quality, I took photos of the same object with the Nikon and with the old Canon. I imported the photos onto my laptop and split the screen with the two adjacent images. I shot the photos in Auto with no zoom. The results were stunning. The Nikon photo were fair but not crisp. On the other hand, the Canon photo was extremely clean and detailed. We are returning the Nikon and buying another Canon.

Good, easy to use!!

I bought this camera for my Mom as a birthday gift as she wanted something really simple. It's convenient to carry in your purse or pocket and comes with a 5x optical zoom. We have tried clicking group photographs over Christmas as well as shooting videos. Everything came out really well. Got no complaints whatsoever! This model however, doesn't come with an SD card, so buyers will have to buy that seperately.

This is a GREAT point & shoot camera!

This is a great camera! I was a little iffy when buying because of some bad reviews I had read when looking to buy. It ended up being a GREAT purchase! It replaced my Kodak C875 that broke. I took this to Orlando when my husband and I went to Disneyworld and we have a wonderful album full of great pictures! I also take alot of outdoor pictures when I see a beautiful sunset or scenery, and I also take alot of pictures of my doggies. This camera captures great colors! There is alot of extras with this camera, all kinds of different functions, just make sure you read the user manual and it will definitely help you better understand the camera. I love the different settings! If you want to take a picture without the flash in a semi-dark room and you want to capture all of the colors that you are seeing, just put the camera on the "food" setting and it captures absolutely GREAT pictures! Pictures that my Kodak was no capable of.
I am very happy with my purchase & I will definitely buy a Nikon again!
I will be posting a few sample pictures I have taken with this camera.

Great camera. Great price.

This camera is great. I highly recommend it. It's a lot smaller and lighter than I expected. Also, the photo quality is great. All the settings are very easy to find and figure out. The zoom is awesome and the video capabilities are much better than any other camera I've ever owned.

Great Product

The Nikon Coolpix S560 is all the product I thought it would be. Sleek, easy to utilize, especially the menu. The menu is easy to read and navigate. The numerous photo scene's take excellent pictures for all types of settings. I would highly recommend this camera and would not hesitate to purchase it again.

Looks Cool, but Lacks Substance

by eternalsunshine08 2009-07-07, 7 people found this review helpful
As a proud owner of Nikons in the past, I was excited for my new s560 to come in the mail! But, after taking a few pictures I was shocked by the poor quality of the images. The colors were dark, and the images appeared grainy. It's impossible to get good results in low light. I compared pictures with a sony cybershot, and the difference in the images was unbelievable! I'm returning this camera immediately. Perhaps Nikon should stop spending so much money having Ashton Kutcher promote their products, and more money on producing quality cameras!

Good little Compact Camera

by Vincent Esposito 2009-04-13, 6 people found this review helpful
Just bought this compact camera for my wife. It is very easy to use and is built very compact. Just testing it out of the box, I have noticed the pictures to be average to good quality. The camera is very fast to recharge after using the flash. Also quick to take a couple of pictures in a row. It is so small it is a little hard to handle for my hands.

My wife likes how easy it is to take a picture and it could be in her bag with no real extra weight. If I had one issue the flash is weak while taking a picture of any distance.

Nikon Coolpix

This camera exceeded my expectations. The battery life is without question adequate for a day of picture taking. The option of a second battery is also very welcomed.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a small camera which is easy to use and produces great pictures. Above all, a camera without the fuss of AA batteries.

The good: great, sharp lens. Easy to use. Nice features

The bad: Short-lived battery. Peripheral shadowing in wide angle view.
