Clear, detailed pictures

by K. Borah 2009-10-03, 78 people found this review helpful
I bought the camera for the 10X optical zoom, because I'd like to get closer up pictures at concerts and I'm looking forward to taking pictures in the mountains this year with it. I already had a good Kodak camera, but with less zoom and less megapixels. So far, I haven't gotten to check out the zoom for things like that, but I've taken some close up pictures of a butterfly and gotten clear, detailed pictures. You can even see the barbs on its legs. It's easy to use, I like being able to crop my pictures on the camera, you can even add a sound tag onto your picture. I like that you can put it on smart capture and the camera does the work for you. Its a good, sturdy camera and even though I had read reviews that it was a little bulky, it is smaller than my last digital camera and doesn't feel bulky to me at all. So far, loving this camera!

Surprisingly pleased

by K. Campos 2009-11-07, 37 people found this review helpful
I have had probably ten different digital cameras over the last ten years, mostly Kodak, although the most recent ones were Canon. I was spoiled with the 12x optical zoom on my Kodak Z1012 and the clear, sharp images it produced. I don't want to carry it in my purse every day though! I recently purchased a Canon SX110, which is small enough to carry daily and takes great photos; however, it doesn't allow for a date stamp except at 1600x1200 resolution. After researching for several days online, I purchased a Kodak Z915 today. Took it straight to the park and played with it. Got some fantastic photos today. I mean, I was surprisingly truly impressed by the clear, sharp images I got today for a relatively inexpensive camera. I love the 10x zoom -- can't even imagine owning a camera with less after having that feature for a couple of years now. This one does all that I need and does it well. The movie mode seemed to have tiny shifts in focus while recording, but I don't use the video features on my cameras too often, so not a concern for me. I may play with it some more and see if some tweaking of settings will allow for a smoother playback. Again, can't say enough how happy I am with the image quality and that's my main requirement.

Luv It

This camera is more than I expected. Much smaller than my older X4 optical digital Kodak camera. I love that I can zoom in and out while in video mode (maybe this is more common now but wasn't an option on my 6 year old kodak). I took video/stills at my daughter's swim meet last evening. I am very impressed with the quality and the zoom. I was able to capture her diving in the water (not even in sports mode). Only used this so far for this one occasion but this is exactly why I purchased it in the first place so I am very satisified.

Easy to use, lacks features in competitor cameras.

The staple of any Kodak camera, ease to use. This camera follows that mantra with easy to read and use buttons, and a setting dial on the top which makes switching between shooting modes simple. This type of camera, a high zoom with expanded shooting modes than a point and shoot, while still having the point and shoot philosophy so a early user to digital cameras or even a seasoned photographer can find ways to capture their pictures the best.

What Kodak does so well also is something that sets it lower than what Sony H20, Canon SX120 IS, and Nikon L20 have in the class the Z915 is trying to enter. All of the other cameras feature better image quality, more custom modes where white balance, shutter speed, flash levels, ISO levels, and focal distance points are more expanded than what's offered in the Kodak. Also, the time between pictures on the Kodak is noticeably longer than the Sony, Canon, and Nikon. While many may not see that as a make or break when deciding on a camera, the wait time can be annoying for others.

The Kodak does make a compelling case in the in-between segment of point and shoot, and having some settings DSLRs were exclusive to. And what the Kodak doesn't have compared to the competition, it does make up for it in the price, close to $75 to $100.

Very Good Camera

by Mariano Andres Sanin 2009-10-26, 9 people found this review helpful
This camera works great in automatic and also provides lots of setup options when you like to go manually. I really liked this camera because it works great almost with every condition of light and that's impresive for a non-professional camera. The only thing i would change is the battery, it should be a litium one instead of the AA.

Excellent design, good bargain.

The 10MP with 10x optical zoom camera is fantastic. Takes excellent photos, easy to use, reliable, and long battery life. Costs less, slimmer profile, and same features as other major brands we looked at.

Slightly Blurred Pictures in Auto Mode

by Anthony 2009-12-21, 14 people found this review helpful
I was expecting this camera to produce sharp pictures with the added bonus of the 10x optical zoom lens. The majority of pictures I took came out slightly blurred, especially indoors. I checked to make sure image stabilization was on, which it was. The only way I could get a good picture was to play with the manual controls and that method only produced mixed results. I have already shipped this camera back. I bought another camera at the same time as a gift. It is a Canon PowerShot SD1200IS. It is the same price as the Kodak Z915. It is an awesome little camera. The Pictures are sharp right out of the box in auto mode. It quickly focuses as opposed to the Z915, which took 2 seconds to focus every time you zoomed in.

Do yourself a favor and don't fall for the 10x optical zoom like I did. The Z915 is a cheap camera that someone at Kodak stuck a 10x optical zoom lens on.

Great Camera

This is an amazing camera, awesome options for the amateur photographer or more advanced options for those who would like a little more control. The zoom is crystal clear. I would recommend this camera to anyone, and a great price.

Good Buy for the money

I am a real estate appraiser & need a camera for everyday use, as well as family trips, etc. While I am not a camera expert or formal critic I wanted a camera this time that had a good optical lens, but that would not fall apart after daily use & wouldn't break the bank. The Kodak works fine. Very easy to use and takes great shots. The only problem, & it is probably more me than the camera, is that the dial on the top of the camera that switches between the different modes does not stay in place after being removed from my pocket so I have taken a lot of videos with funny dialogs when I wanted to take a photo. I must say the unwanted videos are also of a good quality. It fits in my pants pocket well enough and has not yet shown much wear & tear after being tossed into the car or placed into my briefcase. The flash is integrated into the body of the camera, which is a huge plus as I have had bad luck with the pop up flashes. So all in all it is a very good camera & I would buy it again.

Poor quality camera.

The Kodak Z915 seemed to be just the camera I was looking for until I got it. It is a "plastic fantastic." To hold in in your hand is to be afraid to drop it and see it smashed to pieces. I do not like that it has no optical viewfinder, only the screen. I should have caught that before I purchased it. My greatest concern is that the audio that one records with the video is barely audible -- if you can hear it at all -- through the camera. This is a design problem in the camera. Who paid those engineers to design this flaw into the camera? One can even check the Z915s in the store and discover this. When I called Kodak, they just ran be through the menu and said their was nothing they could do. Shame on you Kodak. I had to send it back to the Amazon Marketplace seller to have them exchange it. The new camera is the same as the old. I wouldn't purchase this camera again, and it is too much of a hassle to keep sending it back -- for what? I will wrap it up and give it to someone as a Christmas gift. MERRY CHRISTMAS.
